Local And Compliance Notes

ICB Firearms is the full-service firearms dealer in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, and serves customers in the nearby cities of Macomb, Clinton Township, Grosse Pointe, Warren, and Royal Oak. All purchases at ICB Firearms are conducted in full compliance with federal and Michigan state law, including ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check for every firearm sale. Michigan enacted universal background check requirements for all firearm sales, including private transfers, in 2023, and all transactions at ICB Firearms are processed accordingly. Michigan requires a Pistol Purchase Order or a valid Concealed Pistol License for all handgun purchases from a licensed dealer. A valid CPL is required to carry a concealed handgun in Michigan, as the state does not have constitutional carry. Buyers must meet all applicable federal and state eligibility requirements, with a minimum age of 21 for handgun purchases and 18 for long guns from a licensed dealer. Michigan's Lower Peninsula rifle deer zones require straight-wall cartridges, making calibers such as .350 Legend, .450 Bushmaster, and .45-70 Government among the most popular legal options for Lower Peninsula deer hunters. Michigan's 2024 safe storage law requires all firearms to be stored securely to prevent access by minors when not under the direct control of an authorized adult, and violations can result in criminal penalties if a minor accesses an unsecured firearm. Michigan hunters should consult the Michigan DNR for current regulations on legal firearms, calibers, and equipment for each game season and zone. Contact ICB Firearms for help with any purchase, transfer, parts selection, or safe storage question.

Frequently Asked Questions About ICB Firearms Shop

1. What does ICB Firearms carry in its shop?

+

ICB Firearms carries a full inventory of firearms and accessories including semi-automatic handguns, rifles, and shotguns, bolt action and lever action rifles, ammunition in all major calibers, magazines for popular handgun and rifle platforms, gun parts and upgrade components, and more. Whether you are shopping for a concealed carry pistol, a Michigan deer hunting rifle, or stocking up on range ammunition, stop in or check online for current inventory.

2. Do I need a Pistol Purchase Order to buy a handgun in Michigan?

+

Yes. Michigan requires a Pistol Purchase Order or a valid Concealed Pistol License to purchase a handgun from a licensed dealer. The PPO is obtained through your local law enforcement agency or the Michigan State Police online system. All handgun purchases also require ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check at the point of sale. A current and valid Michigan CPL can serve in place of the PPO for eligible buyers.

3. Can I carry a concealed firearm in Michigan without a permit?

+

No. Michigan does not have constitutional carry and requires a valid Concealed Pistol License to carry a concealed handgun. To obtain a CPL, applicants must be at least 21, meet all state and federal eligibility requirements, complete a state-approved firearms safety course, and apply through their county clerk's office. Open carry of handguns is generally permitted for eligible residents in most Michigan locations, subject to prohibited zone restrictions under state law.

4. What rifles are legal for deer hunting in Michigan's Lower Peninsula?

+

Michigan's Lower Peninsula rifle deer zones require hunters to use straight-wall cartridges. Legal options include .350 Legend, .450 Bushmaster, .45-70 Government, .44 Magnum, .357 Magnum, and other approved straight-wall calibers meeting Michigan DNR dimensional requirements. Bottleneck centerfire cartridges such as .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield are generally permitted for deer hunting in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Always verify current Michigan DNR regulations for your specific zone and season before purchasing.

5. Does ICB Firearms carry ammunition?

+

Yes. ICB Firearms carries ammunition across all major calibers including handgun, rifle, shotgun, and rimfire loads. Available options span defensive hollow points, full metal jacket range loads, hunting ammunition in popular centerfire calibers, non-toxic waterfowl loads, and rimfire rounds for training and small game. Stop in or check online for current ammunition inventory, as availability can vary by caliber and brand.

6. What are Michigan's safe storage requirements for firearms?

+

Michigan's 2024 safe storage law requires firearm owners to store all firearms securely to prevent access by minors when not under the direct control of an authorized adult. A locked gun safe, locking cabinet, or trigger lock meets the storage requirement. Violations can result in criminal penalties if a minor accesses an unsecured firearm and causes harm. ICB Firearms can recommend safe storage solutions for handguns and long guns to keep your collection secure and accessible.

7. Does ICB Firearms carry gun parts and upgrade components?

+

Yes. ICB Firearms carries a range of gun parts and upgrade components for handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Available items include triggers, barrels, slides, stocks, handguards, and other internal and external components for the most popular firearms platforms. Whether you are repairing a firearm, upgrading performance, or building a custom platform from the ground up, stop in or contact ICB Firearms to check current parts inventory.

8. Does ICB Firearms run background checks on all firearm sales?

+

Yes. All firearm sales at ICB Firearms include ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check as required by federal law. Michigan's 2023 universal background check law also extends this requirement to private firearm transfers. Every buyer must meet all applicable federal and Michigan state eligibility requirements to complete a purchase. ICB Firearms complies fully with all state and federal regulations governing the sale and transfer of firearms.
