The Explorr series uses a tubeless construction method that Griffin describes as providing an optimal strength-to-weight ratio compared to other construction approaches, with the series designed to reach titanium-comparable weights using stainless steel as the primary material.

ECO-FLOW Baffle System

The Explorr incorporates Griffin Armament's utility-patented ECO-FLOW baffle system. According to Griffin, this system is designed for multi-caliber sound performance and is tuned to balance sound output at both the muzzle and the operator's position. Griffin states that the baffle system reduces back pressure, which in turn reduces blowback through semi-automatic actions.

Taper Mount-RI Interface

The Explorr (Gen 2) integrates Griffin Armament's Taper Mount-RI (Rapid Index) interface, which is backward compatible with the original Griffin Taper Mount system. Griffin states the updated interface mounts approximately three times faster than the original design — roughly 5 seconds versus an original average of 15 seconds — through a precision indexing feature and a reduced number of machined thread rotations. Griffin states that accuracy and point-of-impact shift performance have been improved in this updated interface while retaining the secure attachment characteristics of the original Taper Mount system.
